General Discussion
The City Traffic Police Lahore has decided to exempt women drivers from all traffic violations during Ramazan, said Traffic Police Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ghalib Ali Bandesha on Thursday. Bandesha added that only warning tickets would be issued to those drivers who were with their families.
Bandesha said that the police, with the help of multinational companies, have started a new program, “Roshan Punjab”. This programme intends to repair the damaged lights of all vehicles on the roads. He said that the
Punjab
chief minister had also appreciated the steps taken by the Traffic Police.
He said that the programme would continue in the rest of
Punjab
as well, but immediate results might only be visible in
Lahore
. Chief Traffic Officer Hussain Gill said that traffic wardens who misbehaved with citizens would not be tolerated. He claimed that due to the forced implementation of helmets for bikers, the death toll had reduced by 60 percent.
